StartUs aims to establish a connection between software engineering students and the Open Source community. Because Open Source projects seem unreachable to many university students, StartUs will connect students to mentors who are active in the Open Source community. Mentors will guide them through their first contributions to problems that will be carefully selected by StartUs. In this way, StartUs allows students to get relevant job experience while promoting the Open Source community. StartUs will provide a platform where students can find projects of interest, get in touch with mentors and keep track of what other students are working on. Students will have their own profile which they can showcase to future potential employers.
